TV Week in Review

I'm way behind on my tv blogging so am going to do one mega post on the past week's tv shows, if I miss something you watch that you want to talk about, please feel free to post about it.

Let's start off with American Horror Story: Asylum. Last night was the season finale. I remember how ticked I was at the end of season one. I was going to boycott season two. I hated that the entire family died. People argued with me that they got their happy ending, to me, that wasn't a happy ending. Ryan Murphy was a smart man, he opened the season with my boyfriend Adam Levine, how could I not watch?

We found out who cut off Adam's arm on the finale. Was there any doubt? That was the most suspenseful moment of the night. We knew what was going to happen. The tension and knowing really made that scene.

I think Kit was my favorite person of the season. While Lana got blinded by her ambitions, Kit just wanted to live a simple life with his family. How awesome was it that he went back for Sister Jude? I loved the scene of them all dancing in the house. As much of a bitch as she was in the beginning of the season, they did a great job of making us feel sorry for her and to root for her. I'm so glad that she got some months of happiness and how awesome was it that his kids called her nana?

My biggest gripe about the season was the alien storyline. I wish there was some kind of explanation about why they were so drawn to Kit or what their purpose was. Nope, there was not. I was also hoping they would bring Grace back to life, I liked her and Kit together.

The big story arc this season was Lana. I read some comments by people who thought the whole thing was made up by her based on the last scene with Sister Jude. I didn't get that at all. I feel like Jude was telling Lana what the repercussions of her ambitions would be and Lana chose to go that route anyway. It was also interesting how Lana told her son that he was the way he was because of her, not his dad. One thing you can say about Lana, she's a survivor.

What did you think of the finale? Are you in for season 3? I hear Taissa Farmiga will be back. She was the daughter in season one. I really liked her. Ryan Murphy said there have been clues over what next season will be, I didn't pick up on any of them, LOL.

I wasn't home last week when Top Chef aired so I read the blogs. Tom Colicchio gives great insight. When I read that Kristin went home due to Josie's ineptitude I was pissed. To everyone I talked to this week who watches the show, they were pissed too. Remember, I picked her as my favorite from episode one. I always read comments from fans of tv shows who say they are done with a show when their favorites get voted off, I just laugh at them. This is a tv show after all. Guess who was too pissed to watch the show? At least justice was served and Josie went home this week and Kristin kicked her ass on Last Chance Kitchen. Hopefully we won't ever be subjected to Josie's laugh again. Maybe next week I'll watch the show. I make no guarantees.

I checked out The Following on Monday night. Did you? A lot has been made about the level of violence but I watch American Horror Story, if I can watch that in the middle of the night, I can most certainly watch The Following. What did you think of it? I really liked it. I felt like I was watching a movie. Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy were awesome. The FBI sidekicks were a little bit of a caricature but I'm sure they'll be fleshed out a little more. I totally knew the gay neighbors were bad but missed the babysitter. I was also shocked that Maggie Grace bit it. I totally expected protecting her was going to be one of the underlying themes of the season. I like a show that surprises me but I felt so bad for her. Did you watch? What did you think? Will you be watching again?

If you are not watching Justified you are missing out on one of the best shows out there! I am telling you, go watch this show! I thought the first episode setting up the season was a little slow but now we're three shows in and the show is hitting its stride. This season, since there is more of a mystery versus an overall bad guy, they are using more of the marshals office and I am loving it. I love Raylan so much but Tim is giving him a run for his money. When Tim bust in with the gun in his hand all badass I wanted to throw my clothes at him. Add in Art to their dynamics and I'm getting a marshal stiffy.

How gruesome was the snake scene at the opening? And the snake attached to his face, ewww! How cool was that scene with Boyd and the preacher? Turns out God won't protect you from your own ego (or snake bites). Like I said, I love Raylan but he thinks with his little head way too much. First season it was Ava and now it's the other blonde. I knew she was going to take that money as soon as they showed him putting it in the drawer in front of her. Come on, she told him her history as a scam artist. The kid who was the kidnapper got his start on The Young and the Restless. He just left the soap to concentrate on other projects. He's a great actor. How gross was it when he said he was going to piss on the sock before he put it in her mouth?

I don't talk much about Modern Family because I watch it online on Hulu but I have to say last week's episode where Gloria was trying to keep the baby in for Manny and Phil and Claire were playing a game of chicken was awesome! I would say it was one of my favorite episodes. Not only did it have a ton of laughs, it brought me to tears instantly. I watched the scene with Phil and Hailey a couple of times. So sweet! Check it out on Hulu if you get a chance. Here's a link to that episode

How awesome was last night's episode of Supernatural? Last week both Sam and Dean chose each other and hunting but that doesn't mean everything is hunky dory. There's still a tension between the two of them. Enter a case that involved larping (live action role playing) and Felicia Day as Charlie. She was first introduced last season and I really enjoy her energy. Because she's a lesbian she's not there as a love interest and more then holds her own with the boys. It's almost like her and Dean have a bromance (they both thought Belladonna was a porn star). It was hilarious how into the strategy of the game Dean was but it makes sense, he's lived his whole life on the battleground. I knew who the bad guy was almost immediately but this episode wasn't really about who the bad guy was. It was about the interactions between all of the characters which I loved. That being said, smart how the show opens with a guy being drawn and quartered (I learned the true meaning when watching Braveheart) and then the show ends with Dean quoting Braveheart. Nice bookends. How awesome was the ending? I love that the guys got to have a little fun in their lives. They don't have enough of it.
